I finally have a plethora of choices when it comes to music I want to buy. I have not been this excited about music in about two years. As a matter of fact I bought five new CD's in a two month period. That's a lot for me, considering I have not been that enchanted with the music or the artists that have been on the scene. It seems as if you are not Pop / Rap you are totally ignored. Black music, especially has been highjacked and watered down into some unrecognizable entity.
So without further ado I'd like to share my WishList with you (In no particular order)
Erykah Badu
New Amerykah
Do you know how long I have been waiting for this album. I saw the video for Honey on BETJ and almost lost my mind!!!! I didn't even need to see the video I would have bought it without hearing any singles from it. I was digging Ms. Badu when others were finding solace in entertainers like Puffy and the No Limit Soldiers. Joke was on them cause just like on Project Runway "One day you're in and the next day you're out." Thanks Heidi!

Michael Jackson
25th Anniversary Thriller
For me Michael Jackson is one of those artists that can do no wrong. Sure his face is scary and he's kind of weird, but the music. Its a package deal for me if you don't like him you don't like music.
I can actually remember when Michael Mania swept America, but I never owned the album. I did buy it years later in the form of a CD. It was not like I was deprived because everyone else owned it. My first Michael Jackson album, which I still own was Off the Wall. I remember my mom bought it for us (me) from Record Rendevous in Downtown Cleveland. I put that album on my little white record player and played it from the time I was six to eleven. Talk about constant rotation. I thought it was a masterpiece. The best song on that album was I Can't Help It. That song in all it's popness introduced me to jazz.
Now I did view the track listings and he has contemporary artists e.g. Will.i.am and others and that makes me think for the price $30.00 the project may be kind of suspect ( I am no Will.i.am fan), however just the booklet and a new track from this CD are great. Speaking of a new track I bought the Remastered Thriller that was released about five years ago. That had the snippet of a song called Carousel, it was a song that they decided not to put on the album. After listening to that 1:49 song I wish they had.

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings
100 Days 100 Nights
I had never heard of this old school throw back band. I happened to be watching Soul Sessions and thought it was truly an old video. I was intrigued. The lead singer was obviously older than 14, and the Dap Kings were not using a computer to make music. I knew I had to know more. I plan on picking up this CD very soon. You know before they become commercial and end up like Amy Winehouse.
